Celebrating CrazyEngineers Day’ – 26 Nov 2010

I am a big net surfer since my college days. During my college days I always wished to know what and how other engineers across the world are thinking and working to making the world progress in better way. However I could never find a way to do so.

On November 24, 2005, one of my friend (colleague) worked hard for couple of days to set up an online forum system for uniting all the engineers across the world and launched Crazy Engineers on 26 November 2005, his own birthday.

On this forum all the Engineers are united and sharing thr thoughts. Time has flew, and now CE family is grown up 5 Year old and about to touch 100 thousand users (Currently 85 Thousand users).

Like every year, on 26th Nov we are again celebrating:

CREAZY ENGINEERS DAY

Review: weTransfer (transfer data upto 2 GB)

Generally e-mail clients have limitation that we cannot send attachment of more than 10MB size. Whenever we need to send a one more than 10 MB of size, we start cursing e-mail clients that why do not they allow us?

weTransfer is a web utility which allows us to send data up to 2 GB for free using internet.
All you need to do is follow these steps:

1. login to http://www.wetransfer.com/
2. Select attachment location on your system.
3. Enter To and From E-mail address
4. Enter comments
5. Click on Transfer

Both parties receive an e-mail notification; i.e. a confirmation email is sent to the user, and email are sent to the recipient(s) containing a download link to the file. The recipient simply clicks on the download link, and a download page is opened in their browser where they can choose where to place the files on their hard drive. The recipient then presses the “Ok button” and the files are transferred from the Wetransfer.com site to the recipient’s hard drive.

You can send the files to up to 20 recipients per transfer. From e-mail recipient can download the attachment using Download button given on the e-mail.

weTransfer server keeps the attachment on its server for 14 days.

I used this utility to transfer a video of 60 MB, worked well for me.

• Send files up to 20 users in one go
• No spamming, as they have spam filters

Although I had not read any security threat till now, still I will not recommend it for official usage until we get any security assurance for the same.
For normal users its free however it is mentioned at weTransfer faq that “Companies who want to use WeTransfer as their preferred file transfer service with their own permanent background needs to pay for it”

For those who want to know the business model (or how company makes money)

• Do you see those beautiful backgrounds on the WeTransfer.com website? They are a kind of advertisement, a brand incentive for companies. This pays for the costs of providing the service.
• Also, companies which choose weTransfer as preferred file transfer service with their own permanent background add revenues to weTransfer account.

Around couple of weeks back, my younger brother (Studying in 3^rd year electronics) asked me, “Which is your favorite website, which you used to surf very often?” I answered “CRAZYENGINEERS.COM”

Next Question was, ”it’s a forum?”

I replied him, this website is not limited up to a forum (Although it has a CrazyEngineers forum as well), website has many sections as its own blog (VoiCE), Small-Talk, Loads of technical information and all the information a engineers looks for.

As all human being are very curious creatures, immediately, he asked me what interest you in this website.

I revealed, when I joined CE; from when I developed my interest in the website, contents on the website. Here I am trying to pin down an excerpt from the brief discussion with my friend.

Story started around four years back from now…

I joined CE, in the inception phase when CE was fighting hard to realize its existence. I was pretty much impressed with the concept of this website / forum which was very much different from the usual engineering sites / forums. Actually, the forum was initiated by an engineer seeking for a place for the engineers.

On 26th of November 2005, that person was deeply immersed into thinking of creating a platform / place for the inventors (engineers) of the modern era. He was looking for a place where engineers from all over the world can shake their hands, can share their idea; and come up with something which will help the all of us. For him, an Engineer was never a degree holder person, as per him every person has engineers inside; he/she just needs to apply the skills.

Finally, he came up with an idea of creating a common place on the web for all the engineers with the sole purpose of Uniting Engineers across the World…

I asked my friend could you please answer what should be the secret of success for a website?

His attempt to question was,

1. User friendliness
2. Availability of useful contents
3. No Spamming / Less advertisements, if you are searching for some specific knowledge
4. Knowledge sharing

My answer was, “believe me, CrazyEngineers has everything what you have told just now and an engineer expects while doing effective searching on the web”

While explaining everything I was also walking him through the website and by this time he started taking interest in the same. He asked me, Could you please explain a bit more about CE.

I went on…

VoiCE is a blog for CrazyEngineers, where you can find loads of technical information, Book reviews, about the updates of the CE website, KY CEan and everything that has to be there in a blog. Obvious next question was, “what’s KYCEan?”

I didn’t say anything and browsed him to Know Your CEan - CrazyBoy. He read that and asked how come your interview is published on web. I told him, every CEan is important for CE. With a conscience effort of knowing each CE member, we are trying to know about the persons who are actively involved giving helping hand to CE. Lot’s of KYCEan’s are already published on VoiCE.

While browsing VoiCE, he saw Colloquium entries, and I had to explain him that it was a unique online paper presentation event.  In Colloquium, CE received number of presentations with appreciable knowledge and facts. Luckily, I won the event and was accolade by CE.

His response was, “Awesome!!! In a way you are gaining knowledge with benefits as well”, I didn’t say any word except a smile.

I told him that CE- Small Talk, is a section which fascinates me the most. It comprises of interview of the persons who are the giants in technological world. And the best part, at CE you always get a chance / opportunity to interview/ ask you questions to your ideals.

Response from him was, “WOW!!!”

Then he asked how the CE forum is, if we compare it with website?

I didn’t answer this; I handed over my laptop to him to browse through forum. By looking at its friendliness and usefulness he told that, “it’s pretty interesting forum and within ten minutes of browsing he could answers to some of his unanswered puzzles.”

He himself could explore that there are number of threads which can help in doing his college projects. Still he asked, “Can I get a ready-made project at CE?”

I told him, “NO, at Crazy Engineers we do not give ready-made solutions. However, Experts of CEan’s will definitely help you at every step you stuck in realizing your ideas. You will get many ideas but you only need to work on that, we are here to help and gain knowledge not for spoon-feeding”

His response was, “A crazy engineer should have this expectation only”

Youth of today are easily driven by publicity / acceptance and branding of anything. My brother asked me, “Is it popular and renowned”. My answer was, “People like you and me makes anything popular and acceptable. Still It is covered at UTV tech news. Also, CE is ranked among top 5, for the upcoming business entrepreneurs”

He nodded and asked, can I give a suggestion to administrator of the website?

I was amazed, I asked surely you can suggest anything, what do you want to suggest?

He replied why don’t you guys give a feature of online chat? This would help in getting faster response. Again, I had to smile to show him the CE- Conference section at the bottom of the screen.

He asked why it was not visible to him. I told him one thing only,

Satisfaction in Life…

Sitting at my home, watching a movie (do not remember the name), I was just thinking that what exactly we want from our life. At the same time, I thought for the bigger canvas, then second thought crossed in my mind, am I the only one who is thinking in this way. Next whole day and night passed with the same thinking. Next morning, I woke up and jot down all the thoughts and pin it down on the web and wished if someone in the world can answer to these questions, which may ultimately help me and a whole gamut of people thinking alike me…

Professionally, when do we feel satisfied? after a promotion? after an appreciation?

Nopes!!! Even if we will get promotion, appreciations we will cry for good work, environment and what not L

After earning enough money to buy a luxurious, home, and everything which makes life comfortable, do we feel satisfied, personally? Or we have still expectation for a even bigger mansion or more luxurious Chauffer driven car. Even If we will get that also, then we will be worried for the securities of these all non-materialistic things. Am I wrong?

I am sure; again answer would be a big NO only.

After earning everything in our personal and professional life; we don’t feel satisfied then when will we feel satisfied? Any answer to this question?

I had discussions with lots of my friends about this, and no one could satisfy me. Somebody told me, it’s not about satisfaction it’s about how much we want to achieve? According to them if will stop dreaming we may stop progressing in life. Do you believe this? My question is, if whole life we will run for strive then when we will enjoy?

Or do you think there is a way when we can enjoy ONLY?? Without any strive???

Review: De Dana Dan

The film sticks to what seems to have become the standard formula for Bollywood comedies.

Many characters with different agendas get together in one location. What follows is misunderstood identities, slaps, Tom and Jerry style chases and cartoonish violence or in another words the same Priyadarshan Comedy formula.

If the first 2 hours of ‘De Dana Dan’ was awfully boring, the last 40 minutes was unendurable nonsense. Particularly after the suitcase-bomb blasts and a huge wave (Flood) of water rushes into the hotel. Now, it became the regular nonsense ending of Priyadarshan movies.

What was the necessity to drag that nonsense for 15 minutes?.

If you have no time and extra money you can always go and watch this awful Bollywood comedy

Live life to the fullest

If I would like to compare human life with the air in the balloon what’s wrong I am doing? The fate of balloon stays till some pin rip it apart and fate of human life stays till some horrible dream crushes it apart.

Thought of living life (Boy, I can’t say with style or without style) comes and goes like never before. Around 7 days back on Friday only, I was going to office on my motor bike. It was the one of the rare day when I was going to office on my bike (I usually go to office by Bus). I was about to reach office when I saw a truck was stood still in between the road and there were 2 cars near that place, all three stand still. When I reached there I realized that around 1-2 minutes before that place had seen an accident which had galloped the life of a boy. A boy who was around my age only, his body was ripped apart in three parts. I don’t really know that the boy was coming from home to office or was going to home from office. The only thing I knew was, now he was no more living in this world. His mother, sister, wife and do not know who else must be waiting for him at home. All those guys got a phone call, from somebody unknown and the news they got was – their son/bother/husband is no more in this world. What a cruel game of life that was.

GOD!! , give him peace….

And all I am thinking since then, was it happened for the first time …. He was neither my relative nor mine friend. If had this issue been with some other day when I was travelling in bus or cab, I could have gone away thinking just one word “life!!”(may be without thinking anything). But today even after seven day of incident, somehow, may be, because of tranquility of night, added to that, I again saw an accident, I found questioning myself:

What do we live for? What did I live for? What would I be living for?

No answers???

Really!! At least I should have answered the last one…

Thinking……

At this point of time, I see just one answer…” Living earning and working just to waiting that someday we will die peacefully”.

Reminded me the Half glass philosophy… probably am in a negative mood. Am seeing as if, it was first said to always remind us the empty part of the glass and we twisted it. We always find reasons to justify ourselves, to be happy or to stay attached to this world. Even after finding or rather devising so many reasons, are we happy enough?

This train will surely pass from two stations namely “life” and “Death”. Pass the journey with friends, relatives, eat variety, have fun, crack jokes, or do all the things that make you happy….

Consider myself. My daily routine: wake up by 6, talk with my life/wife, have breakfast with her, go to office, do some work, and then wait for 6:30 when I would start my journey back to home to meet my wife to go to my sweet place and the entire day passed just doing the same daily chorus. What did I do today? What would I be doing tomorrow, different from today?

But do I really have one meaning to life or want one or rather would like to have one? Or this journey is just going to end someday having knowledge of only one thing: “I born one day” Would there be anything else worthy to be remembered?

Oh that means my birth, my incarnation was important

Surely A start is….. And its’ me who can make the entire journey as important as it was in starting.

Will this thought be with me tomorrow morning???(At-least I am sure that I will be in a different mood)

Funny but we all live life to make life better but in what sense that we don’t know, without even thinking that probably we are giving a meaning to the present worth more than anything. Thoughts like this, comes and goes a lot many times but continue……

All the things around are going to exist to eternity, even myself.

I do not know why am I writing all this? Probably you will think that I want a small place for my thought on the web.

Or, I just to want to prove to myself that I can also write in this blog world….But reality is I think, writing my own thoughts on a piece of paper will help me in forgetting that instance. I really do not know.

The thing I know and believe is that

Live life to the fullest, as you do not know which day would be your last day….again …

Kurbaan (2009 Hindi movie)

Kurbaan Cast: Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Diya mirza, Om Puri, Kirron Kher

After Newyork and khuda ke liye, Kurbann is another movie based on terrorism. In these movies, it was shown that after 9/11 attack, behavior of US government drastically changed towards Muslims communities. They tortured them; always saw them as another suspect of terror attack.

In Kurbaan, there was a group of Islamic people, who lost the lives of their near and dears in random bombing by US army over Afghanistan. This group was frustrated with the FBI’s brutal behavior towards Muslims. On the name of Jihad, they thought of taking revenge from each and every person of US.

An interesting discussion was shown that “who is responsible for the terrorism, Muslims or US government”. However till the end of the movie, director couldn’t confirm what exactly he wants to show? What is the motive of the movie?

A very different direction from the family movie specialist director karan Johar. Starting of the movie was too fast, he got married with Kareena in a jiffy, settled very fast at States (Do not know from where he got US driving license, Flat, job…). Also, ending looked a little bleak.

The good part was that unnecessarily directory have not tried to put in songs, but whatever songs he served were good.

Keeping criticism apart, overall, it’s well picturized and definitely a onetime watch.
